There are different classifications of food that we give to our pets. We can classify the food that we give them as everyday nutritional food for their survival. We can give them food that can give treatment to their sicknesses or diseases. We can give them food as treats to their good behavior. All of these classifications have different food under it. The most nutritional food that you can give to your cat are fruits and vegetables. However, take note of some of the fruits and vegetables that are toxic for him. Do not feed your cat with onion and garlic or food containing it because consumption of these spices can lower the red blood cell count and lead to anemia. Do not feed your cat with fruits like grapes and raisins; these fruits can cause diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and kidney damage.
Fruits remains like a cut of apple especially its seeds can cause respiratory ailments to cats. Peach and cherry pits can cause cats the same ailment. Be sure to remove tomato leaves and stems if you are going to feed your cat tomato based food. Tomato stems and leaves can cause problems to cat’s urinary, digestive, and nervous systems.
FOOD REMEDY YOU GIVE YOUR CATS
Remedies for bad breath are the most common things that pet owners search for their cats. Oftentimes, pet owners opt food remedy to be easier for them to apply the bad breath remedy. One bad breath remedy is homemade toothpaste with the combination of baking soda, water, and salt. Salt is said to cause electrolyte imbalance to cats so be sure to only put small amount to your homemade toothpaste so as not to cause harm to your pet. Also inhibit feeding your cat with salty food.
FOOD AS TREATS YOU GIVE YOUR CATS
Treats like sweets, especially chocolates, are enticing to cats. However, it is scientifically proven that these treats are toxic to cats. Ironically, what makes them happy can cause them harm. Most cats are said to be lactose intolerant so do not feed them with milk and other dairy products to keep them away from diarrhea and vomiting. Chocolates which cats may find tasty can raise their blood pressure causing fast heartbeat and hyperactivity to the cat.
Macadamia nuts can be a worthwhile chew to your cat when he is not doing something or just relaxing but never do this. Macadamia nuts can cause muscle pains and weakness to cats.
At the end of the day, being wary of the toxic food for cats can help you as a cat owner to take better care of your cat.
